Job Description

The Institute for Child and Family Health (ICFH) is a not-for-profit established in 1945 that provides behavioral health and prevention services to children and their families in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. It is one of the oldest and largest community mental health centers exclusively dedicated to the well-being of children and their families in the State of Florida. ICFH employs a staff of more than 400 full-time and part-time employees, and administers multiple contracts and grants from a diversity of funding sources in order to provide services in the following six areas: Child and Family Counseling; Substance Abuse Prevention; Early Childhood Programs; Violence Prevention; Literacy and Educational Development; and Professional Training Programs.

We are seeking a Staff Accountant/Contract Officer who will be primarily responsible for creating and maintaining records for the revenue and expense of assigned contracts and grants as well as processing account payables.

 

Summary/Objective

The Staff Accountant/Contract Officer is responsible for assisting with the preparation of monthly financial analysis reports, developing and maintaining contract/grant budgets and generating cost reports. The successful candidate will also gather the pertinent information and prepare invoices for various funders.

 

Essential Functions

  • Under the supervision of the CFO, prepares monthly invoices to funding sources based on data from various systems.
  • Prepares monthly spreadsheets and obtains supporting documents for invoices relating to ICFH service contracts.
  • Tracks expenditures versus budget information for service contracts and prepares official invoices for assigned grants.
  • Prepares reimbursement requests for agency contract and grant agreements.
  • Documents revenues and expenditures to be submitted to management of contract or grant. Performs all clerical duties pertaining to the processing and maintenance of contract and grant files.
  • Maintains records/spreadsheets that provide control of expenditures for activities pertaining to all assigned contracts and grants.
  • Communicates with assigned funding agency contacts on contract and grant issues.
  • Provides information that pertains to the effective use of resources and assumptions underlying budget forecasts for assigned contracts.
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Provides accounting support for financial statement preparation by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system and obtaining supplementary information.
  • Manage employee credit cards and charges.
  • Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree with at least two (2) years’ experience in similar position.  Knowledge of standardized, moderately complex procedures.  Computer literate.
